Ve beklediğimiz an geldi çattı. 90. Akademi Ödülleri adayları açıklandı. The Shape of Water 13 adaylıkla listenin başını çekiyor. Bunu zaten bekliyorduk. Ama günün şoku Darkest Hour ve Phantom Thread oldu. Focus Features’ın elindeki iki film de beklenmedik bir atak yaparak altışar adaylık topladı. Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards), James Franco (The Disaster Artist) ve Holly Hunter (The Big Sick) yerine de Paul Thomas Anderson (Phantom Thread), Denzel Washington (Roman J. Israel Esq.) ve Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) tercihlerinde bulunmuş Akademi üyeleri. Genel olarak az sürprizli bir liste diyebiliriz.
