BAFTA Finalistleri ’23

Killers of the Flower Moon

Britanya Akademisi (BAFTA), geçmişteki uygulamasına geri döndü ve son birkaç yıldır adaylardan önce uzun listeleri, yani finalistlerini açıklamaya başladı. Akademi’den farklı olarak üye profilini genişletmektense oylama sistemini değiştirmeye giden BAFTA, bu 10 finalist belirleme aşamasında da enteresan bir süreci izliyor:

• En İyi Film dalında bütün üyeler oy kullanıp 10 film sıralıyor. En çok puan toplayan 10 film uzun listeye kalıyor ve bunlardan aday oylamasında da en çok oy alan beş film aday ediliyor. Bu sene olağan şüphelilerden American Fiction ve May December, ilk 10’a girememiş. All of Us Strangers ise onların yerini almış.
• En İyi Yönetmen kategorisinde en çok oyu alan iki yönetmen cinsiyetlerinden bağımsız olarak hemen listeye alınıyor ve hatta direkt adaylar arasına da adı yazılıyor. Sonrasında uzun listenin kalanı eşit erkek ve kadın yönetmenle aldıkları oya göre dolduruluyor. Adaylık aşamasında en çok oy alan ikinin yanına jürinin seçtiği dört isim eklenecek. Kimler yok peki? Hayao Miyazaki, Todd Haynes ve J.A. Bayona’yı göremedik.
• Oyunculuk dalları da benzer. Ama bu sefer ilk aşamada en çok oy alan üç isim direkt BAFTA’ya da aday ediliyor. Top 7 direkt uzun listeye alınıyor. Kalan üç koltuk ise en çok oyu almış isimlerden 8-15 arasında yer alanlarla jüri tarafından dolduruluyor. Hemen eksiklere göz atalım: Natalie Portman (May December), Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), Charles Melton (May December), Willem Dafoe (Poor Things), Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction), Milo Machado-Graner (Anatomy of a Fall), Taraji P. Henson (The Color Purple), Penelope Cruz (Ferrari) ve Rachel McAdams (Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret).

Adayları 18 Ocak’ta öğreneceğimizi not düşerek sizi uzun listeler/finalistlerle yalnız bırakayım. Tahmin edebileceğiniz üzere Killers of the Flower Moon, Barbie ve Oppenheimer 15 kategoride anılmış. Poor Things 14, Maestro ise 12 dalda belirmiş. Şaşırtan detaylardan biri Saltburn’ün 11 dalda gözüküp En İyi Film onlusunda yer bulamaması. All of Us Strangers’ın aldığı 9 kategorilik şahane desteğe de dikkat!
